What is the hiring cycle at The Henry Ford?
Here at The Henry Ford, we hire new employees year-round. Our peak hiring season is February through May. Students or those seeking summer employment are encouraged to apply early.
How do I apply for employment at The Henry Ford and what materials do I need to be considered?
Once you have made the decision to become a part of our amazing staff here at The Henry Ford you will want to head over to our Careers Page. Scroll to the bottom and choose the Job Postings icon. There you will be able to scroll through all active job postings listed and apply for the jobs of interest to you. During the application process, you will be able to upload your resume directly to the selected job posting.
I wanted to apply for a position, but I no longer see it listed.
If you no longer see a job posting listed, we are not currently accepting applications for that position. You may send a chat message to inquire about other opportunities that are available. Some positions may reopen throughout the year.
I sent in the application but have not heard anything back. What is the status?
Once you submit an application you will receive a confirmation email. Please check your spam folder as sometimes communication lands there. If you have not heard anything back two weeks after you received your confirmation email, please use the chat function located on the Careers Page to contact us. Thank you for your patience!
How can I withdraw from a job after I have applied?
To withdraw from a position, you may respond to the confirmation email that was sent to you stating you are no longer interested in being a candidate for said position. You may also compose a chat message indicating that you would like to withdraw your application as well.
Are there internship opportunities at The Henry Ford?

I left The Henry Ford less than a year ago and I am interested in returning. Do I need to reapply?
Yes, even if you have worked for The Henry Ford within the past year it is advised for you to reapply through our Careers Page.

How do I apply to become a volunteer?
To become a volunteer at The Henry Ford head over to our Careers Page. From there you will select the Volunteering icon located at the bottom of the page. After reading the brief overview you can download the volunteer job descriptions and the volunteer application. Please email the completed application to VolunteerOffice@thehenryford.org. After sending in your application, you will be contacted to sign up for Volunteer Orientation.
How do I choose my opportunity?
You may download the Volunteer Job Descriptions PDF. This document lists the different volunteer opportunities. During Volunteer Orientation, you will have a 1-on-1 interview to discuss the opportunities where you may serve as a volunteer. You will also sign up for a 2-day Inspiring Service Orientation.
I wanted to volunteer for a certain opportunity, but it is not available.
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities here at The Henry Ford. However, they may not always be available. If there is an opportunity you want but is not available, please send an email to VolunteerOffice@thehenryford.org.
What perks come with being a volunteer at The Henry Ford?

What is the Institution's policy regarding Covid-19?

Covid-19 vaccinations are not required for employment at The Henry Ford.

On March 15, 2022, The Henry Ford updated our face mask policy by linking it to the level of transmission risk in our region as determined by the CDC and the MDHHS.

Three levels of transmission risk have been identified by the CDC:

  • Low; Green: Staff are not required to wear masks at the Low level of risk. Staff may continue to wear a mask based on personal preference.
  • Medium; Yellow: Staff are not required to wear masks at the medium level of risk, however, staff should: Consider wearing masks indoors and testing in advance of interactions if a close contact or relative is at high risk of severe disease, and, if immunocompromised, talk to a doctor about whether masking or other precautions are necessary.
  • High; Orange: Staff are required, at the High level of risk, to wear a well-fitting mask indoors regardless of vaccination status, except in circumstances where they are working alone (i.e., offices, workrooms, etc.).
